About us:

We are a rapidly growing social game developer, with top ranked games on Mobile and Facebook.  We have over 50 million fans playing our games all over the world.

There are about 350 of us creating super cool games in our offices, located 10 minutes from the beach, in beautiful sunny Barcelona.

Last year we were acquired by Take Two Interactive (GTA, Bioshock, XCom…) and have been expanding our activities, creating exciting new opportunities for top people to join our teams.

SUMMARY

Initially in a support role within Social Point’s localization team, prospective candidates will work on both English text creation, proofreading and on-device English LQA, as well as support the Localization Project Managers in translation and LQA coordination into non-English languages for live games.

With excellent growth prospects - either developing into a Game Writer or Localization Project Manager, candidates should have solid English writing/editing skills, as well as hands-on interest or experience in games localization.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Main tasks

  • Copywrite, proofread and polish English ingame text using product and feature briefings and under guidance from Game Writers within the team as well as Development & Design teams throughout the company
  • Carry out on-device LQA in English and visual LQA for key localized languages where required on allocated projects
  • Work proactively with game teams, producers and designers to implement localization best practices, scheduling, risk and quality management - for both English and non-English languages. Represent localization in regular meetings with development teams, share minutes, track follow-up & actions with all stakeholders

Additional tasks

  • Support the coordination of translation tasks & assignments for allocated projects, including batch generation from the internal localization tool, batch submissions to the translation vendors, deadline scheduling and visual LQA of imported translations
  • Partner with Translation Vendors on localization plan and execution, ensuring all required materials are available where applicable and all translator queries are addressed

PROFILE & EXPERIENCE

Must haves:

  • English native speaker with degree level education (desirably in linguistics, journalism or media studies) with a strong passion for gaming
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in localization, English copywriting, proofreading, editing, LQA or similar role
  • Interest or proven skills in creative writing and passion for narrative design in games
  • Ability to familiarize quickly with new and existing games through research & active gameplay
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, confident and concise manner both written and verbally
  • Quality and detail oriented
  • Ability to work unsupervised and maintain positive attitude, focus and strong team spirit

Nice to haves:

  • Basic working knowledge of translation tools & platforms, as well as ability to coordinate localization tasks with external translation or LQA vendors
  • Awareness of localization dependencies on English content, style, context & language specifics
  • Proficiency in additional languages other than English is a definite bonus
